A Raleigh man who was shot last April by a police officer has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a federal weapons charge, authorities said Monday.

Michael Lewis White, 21, pleaded guilty in October to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was arrested on April 4 following a traffic stop and a brief chase through the Schenley Square mobile home park in south Raleigh.

During the chase, Officer B. Greenwood tried to knock White to the ground but instead spun him around, authorities said. White was carrying a .40-caliber Glock handgun, and Greenwood shot him twice upon seeing the weapon, authorities said.

Greenwood wasn't injured in the incident, and White was taken to WakeMed for treatment of his wounds.

White had five previous convictions on drug charges, authorities said.

Where da gold at?

He looks like a little kid!!!

If his mom really cared he would not be where he is.

How's a guy on the street with 5 previous drug convictions? Liberal judges, that's how.

I'm sure his mom is very proud!
