Arrest made in Hurdle Mills rape

Sammy Davis Hatchett

Roxboro, N.C. — Person County authorities arrested Sammy Davis Hatchett, 44, of 75 Foxcroft Drive in Timberlake, for the alleged rape of a woman on Feb. 11.

Hatchett was charged with felony counts of first degree rape, first degree burglary, first degree kidnapping and first degree sexual offense and held on $1 million secured bond.

Sheriff Dewey Jones said, "From all the evidence we have collected to this point, I feel confident in this arrest."

Sgt. Jason Wilborn said the alleged attack on an 83-year-old woman in her home appears to have been random.

I know that rape is about power, not sex. But none the less, he had sex with an 83 year old woman. That is just wrong! He needs to wear a sign around hie neck saying that he can only perform with geriatrics. He is sic.

IF this man is guilty, and it sure sounds that way, he should get the death penalty. Of course he won't, but he should!

WRAL won't post this comment I'm sure, but the moderators need to losen up!

Just as there is nothing wrong with MY opinion that this man deserves death, there is nothing wrong with someone else feeling that he is getting a raw deal. It's opinion and should be posted!!

I pray that if he is indeed guilty, that he will never be free to roam the streets again. As a female who lives alone in Hurdle Mills myself, I would like to thank the Person County Sheriff Dept for the good work!!
