Police chased a vehicle Saturday evening through southeast Raleigh. The chase began just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Montague Lane and Davie Street after a bicycle officer said he spotted Humberto Cruz-Nunez, 22, trying to pick up a prostitute. As the officer approached the car, the vehicle swerved and hit the officer.

Other officers then chased Nunez's vehicle, at speeds of 100 mph, down Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and into Knightdale, police said. Nunez drove back into Raleigh on U.S. Highway 264 and left his vehicle near New Bern Avenue, police said.

Nunez took off on foot but a K-9 caught him, police said. Nunez was taken to WakeMed for treatment of a dog bite injury. The bicycle officer was not injured.

Police said Nunez was charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license and fleeing to elude police.

JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW....HE IS ACTUALLY LEGAL!!!! THERE ARE STILL LEGALS AROUND HERE U KNOW... JUST FOR BEING HISPANIC DOESNT MEAN THAT HE IS ILLEGAL

what difference does it make re: a prostitute -we should be concerned about assault on the LEO, the DWI and revoked license-and yes, he needs to be deported if he is illegal-do you have any idea how much money(make that taxpayers' money) is spent in a courthouse?

What I want to know is, how do they know the woman is a prostitute? If they know she is one, then why don't they arrest her? If not, then, aren't they profiling? Inquiring minds are befuddled.

Arrested and charged with lots of crimes, but not being here illegally. If he is not here illegally then WRAL should tell us he is a legal immigrant, or a US citizen. I am sick and tired of the media and law enforcement tip-toeing around this so called sensitive issue. Every time a crime pops up with an Hispanic involved no one wants to talk about it. Wake up and report the news.

Always good when the canines take "bite out of crime"!
