Monster.com plans Raleigh job fair

Monster

One of the most popular job-search Web sites will hold a job fair in Raleigh in late March as part of a national tour to 140 cities.

Monster.com launched its "Keep America Working tour in New York City this week. Nearly 4,000 people showed up for the event in mid-town Manhattan.

The Raleigh fair will be held March 31. Its venue has not been announced.

The tour will be "a unique and different" and offer "access to Monster’s career advice experts and coaching to enable people to feel confident of their skills and prepare them to meet employers face-to-face," said Sal Iannuzzi, chairman, president and CEO of Monster World.

"These Monster career fairs will help seekers differentiate themselves to not only find a job, but also to find their calling," he continued.

Businesses will be able to set up for free at the fair. Monster.com said that policy is aimed at drawing more employers with job openings.

Job seekers will also be able to take advantage of career advice from Monster career counselors, tutorial kiosks and career-management kiosks. Two nonprofits, Dress for Success and Career Gear, will be on hand to teach skills for finding and retaining jobs.

Dress for Success officials said Monster.com provided a much needed boost for their charity after they were forced to cancel career fair in January.

“Monster literally resurrected this critical program,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success.

BE VERY CAREFUL. NO event especially by MONSTER is FREE to employers!!!!! They are currently hurting and while they may advertise it's free, you will have to purchase posting packages in order to be there. It's a scam on words..... And isn't it funny how another niche job board has had a job fair intative since the end of 2008, Putting America Back to Work nationwide job fair series, how all of a sudden their same is simular.......hummmm.... Yah the big boys are all of a sudden scrambling for every dollar they can get as the years of spending multi million dollar in advertising has finally caught up with them. How about they spend some money on paying customer servcie reps that know how to take care of a customer instead of being lost in a sea of postings.
