Cary, N.C. — Progress Energy customers in Cary might experience power outages throughout Saturday after an early morning wreck on Cary Parkway toppled a power pole, said Town spokeswoman Susan Moran.
A vehicle hit a power pole on Cary Parkway, between U.S. Highway 1 and Tryon Road, shortly before 7 a.m. The driver sustained non-serious injuries, Moran said.
Eastbound lanes of Cary Parkway were partially blocked through the morning as utility crews made repairs. Motorists were advised to avoid the area, and traffic delays were expected.
Progress Energy media representative Scott Sutton said that about 30 people had lost power due to the repairs around 10:30 a.m. He expected service to be restored Saturday afternoon.
