Durham police were investigating a shooting that happened Thursday night at 3 Cypress Court.

Officers responded to a “subject shot” call at 9:57 p.m. and found a man who had been shot in the right side of his stomach. The man told officers he was outside 3 Cypress Court when unknown men fired several shots at him, according to police.

The victim, whose name was not released, said he ran to the back of his house and called police. Emergency crews took him to Duke University Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said they did not immediately have any suspect descriptions, and they did not disclose the victim's name.

It was the second street shooting in two days. A man was shot on Sherwood Drive on Wednesday night and told police he was shot by a man who tried to rob him.

Anyone with information was asked to call Investigator A. M. Sterling at 919-560-4415, ext. 233, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
