Durham police investigate Sherwood Drive shooting

Durham police were investigating a shooting Wednesday evening at 1003 Sherwood Drive.

Officers responded to a "subject shot" call at 7:43 p.m. When they got there, they found a man with gunshot wounds to his left upper thigh and right calf.

The man told officers he had been outside the building when another man tried to rob him and fired several shots.

The victim, whose name police withheld, ran elsewhere and called police, they said. Paramedics took the man to Duke University Hospital for treatment of what they said were non-life-threatening injuries.

Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
