Raleigh, N.C. — The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to begin a transportation study for the Crabtree Valley area.
The study, estimated to cost $250,000, will attempt to develop a long-range transportation strategy for the area surrounding Crabtree Valley Mall. Residents and business owners in the area will provide input for the study.
Traffic along the Glenwood Avenue corridor is expected to grow by as much as 70 percent by 2035, officials said.
The City Council recently decided to remove a proposed $30 million Crabtree Valley Avenue Extension, between Glenwood Avenue and Creedmoor Road, from the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
The road project faced several obstacles, including leased property and Crabtree Creek in its path.

I think if more people where aware of Coming in via Blue Ridge and Creedmore that traffic would be better . However the real issues are the Beltline on and off ramps. The capacity that exists there is poor.

I'm trying to visualize this. I used to live over there but I've been in Durham for 10 years, and I know that a lot of things have changed. Don't Glenwood and Creedmoor Rd run perpendicular to each other - hence that intersection right at Crabtree Mall by Sears? How can they build an extension between them?
