Organizers: Help needed in search for Kelly Morris

Volunteers searched for Kelly Morris in Granville County Saturday, nearly six months after the 28-year-old mother of two went missing.

Her husband, Scott, was the last person to see her alive at their home in Stem on Sept. 3. The next day, the house caught fire. Hours after the fire, police found Kelly Morris' car, keys, purse and cell phone in an undeveloped subdivision.

Scott Morris has been the focus of several search warrants in the case, but he hasn't been charged with a crime.

Search organizers said they need help to keep up the search for Kelly Morris. As the search has dragged on, their volunteer base has diminished, they said.

Organizers were also concerned that as spring arrives, growing vegetation might obscure signs that could point to Kelly Morris' whereabouts.

Searchers will gather again Sunday at 1 p.m. They will met at a command center at N.C. Highway 50 and Old Weaver Trail in Creedmoor.

Kelly Morris' family is offering a $30,000 reward for information about her disappearance.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Granville County sheriff's investigators at 919-693-3213 or a volunteer search line at 919-812-2310.
