Victims of Fayetteville melee identified

Cumberland County investigators on Friday released the names of two people who were shot during a Wednesday night melee on Dunn Road.

Brandon Nunnery, 19, of the 3300 block of Attica Road in Fayetteville, was in stable condition Friday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was shot in the abdomen with a handgun.

J. Billy Ford, 27, of the 2000 block of Simon Street in Fayetteville, was listed in very serious condition at a Charlotte hospital. He was being treated for a shotgun wound to the upper portion of his body.

Deputies were called to 839 Dunn Road shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday after gunfire was reported. A long-standing argument between two large groups of people resulted in the shooting.

The case remains under investigation.
