Woman charged with taking gun to court

e-mail print friendly

Deputies on Wednesday charged a Fayetteville woman with carrying a concealed weapon into the Cumberland County Courthouse.

Tara Suzanne Capone, 30, of 318 Bitteroot Court, was detained at a security checkpoint at the courthouse entrance after an X-ray revealed a handgun in her handbag, authorities said.

Capone, also known as Tara Bacon, told deputies she forgot the gun was in her purse and claimed to have found it near a local mobile home park. She said she decided to keep it for protection because she is a convenience store clerk, authorities said.

Deputies also seized 20 rounds of .22-caliber short ammunition from the purse, authorities said.

duh,,,how dumb can u be? since when do ppl throw guns out with extra ammo too? sounds fishy to me.. of all places,,the court house where u know they check u n and out..wasnt a smart move on her part. i hope that gun wasnt used in any robbery or to kill sumone cos its all on her. ppl just dont think now a days.

If I forget i'm carrying it in my purse, I think I'd remember when I'd put it on the conveyer belt to go in the xray machine. DUH!

And what made her think telling them she found it would be a good idea? Was the ammo with it when she found it?

Even if she would have had a permit, she couldn't have carried it into the courthouse. So eitherway, she was in the wrong.

"get a permit"???

Show me WHERE in the Holy Second Amendment it says I have to have a PERMIT to carry a gun in the United States of God Bless America!

Smorgas_Of_Borg, real funny :-)

May be next time the lady should get a concealed handgun permit. At least she would have the handgun training that she can ignore.

"Deputies also seized 20 rounds of .22-caliber short ammunition from the purse, authorities said."

20 rounds in addition to the rounds in the handgun? To me, having that many extra rounds is not for "protection" as she stated. It is for a siege...
