Holly Springs, N.C. — A woman died Tuesday evening from injuries received when she was struck by a car while walking across Main Street in Holly Springs earlier in the day.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Main Street and Oakhall Drive. Linda Faye McNeil, 56, of 224 Holly Acres Road, was crossing Main Street in the direction of the Food Lion store, while the driver was traveling northbound on Main Street, police said.

Police did not expect to file charges against the driver.
