One child was injured Tuesday morning after a Jeep Cherokee crashed into the back of a Wake County school bus on N.C. Highway 55 in Apex.

The child, whose injuries were non-life-threatening, was riding in the Jeep, according to officials at the scene. About 35 students were on the bus headed to Lufkin Road Middle School. They were unhurt.

The bus, which had little damage, took the students to school around 7:40 a.m. The Jeep's front end was smashed.

No other details were immediately available.
