The state Highway Patrol says two people were killed in a four-vehicle wreck Saturday on North Carolina Highway 211 in Aberdeen.

A vehicle was trying to pass another vehicle at about 7 p.m. when it sideswiped another vehicle in the opposite lane of N.C. Highway 211, troopers said. Those two vehicles lost control and collided head-on with two other vehicles.

Candra Stewart, 40, of Pinehurst, and John McMillan, 41, of Red Springs, were killed, troopers said. A helicopter airlifted Suzanne McMillan, 59, of Red Springs, to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Cheryl Anne Heeter and Chan Tran, of Raleigh, and Darren Randall and his wife, of Maryland, were transported by ambulance to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 211 was shutdown in both directions while the wreckage was cleared.

aggressive driving takes more lives from what I just read. How are we doing with enforcement of the aggressive driving laws? http://www.wral.com/traffic/story/112749/

I see this sort of thing almost everyday on hwy 401 between Louisburg and Rolesville - impatient people passing with another car coming from the opposite direction. I'm afraid one day the results will be the same as this horrible wreck. Getting ahead one car is not worth putting so many lives at risk. Heartfelt prayers to all the victims of this senseless act.
