Shooting

Hoke County sheriff's deputies were looking for several suspects after gunfire erupted during a party at a Raeford house early Saturday, killing one man and critically injuring another, Sheriff Hubert A. Peterkin said.

A party was going on in a house at 1311 Clan Campbell Drive around 1:15 a.m. when a fight broke out in the yard. Several weapons were fired during the altercation, and bullets struck two men, Peterkin said.

Keith Thomas, 27, of Angier, was shot twice in his upper right torso, Peterkin said. He died of his wounds.

A second man, whose name has not been released, was injured and taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon, the sheriff said.

Peterkin said deputies were searching for several suspects. He declined to disclose additional information about the investigation.

The sheriff urged anyone with any leads or information about the shooting to call the Hoke County Sheriff's Office at 910-875-5111.
