Wreck ties up U.S. 1 traffic in Wake Forest

e-mail print friendly

A wreck closed northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 1/Capital Boulevard, near the interchange with N.C. Highway 98 Bypass, in Wake Forest on Friday evening.

Vehicles were detoured on Main Street through downtown Wake Forest, and backups of several miles formed on Capital Boulevard.

Sky 5 coverage showed that a truck carrying a piece of heavy equipment had jackknifed. Officials reported injuries and confirmed that a tractor-trailer was involved in the wreck.

Transportation officials said northbound lanes were reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

It had to be some idiot who probably cut off the tractor tailer. Took me 2 1/2 hours to get home. Wbew!

bet you money this is road rage related. someone didn't want to let someone over and bam... you get this.

Traffic was backed up for miles on 98 and Falls of the Neuse, too. Luckily I was headed in the opposite direction because traffic was simply not moving.

I thought I heard a chopper this evening "over my backyard". Prayerfully the injuries from the accident aren't serious.
