Apex man awakes to find van smashed into house

An Apex homeowner said he awoke to find his van smashed into his house around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the man heard a loud noise and saw someone running from the house at 4316 Kildaire Farm Road.

The homeowner told troopers that his van had been parked outside the garage. However, someone drove it into the house.

Authorities did not release any other information.

ah-ha... If I was his insurance company I'd be looking real close at this one.

@DeathRow: It's not hard to move a vehicle, even without the keys. If the transmission is not in gear and the parking brake is not set, it is actually really easy.

A little hard for a vehicle to hit a house unless the person doing it has the keys. Either he did it when he came home, or he left the keys in the unlocked vehicle. And if he left the keys, anyone stealing it would have been smart enough not to drive it into the house. Maybe we will hear the whole story later.
