Raleigh, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation announced Tuesday morning that road-patching work will close two of three lanes on the Inner Beltline, Interstate 440, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. around Lake Boone Trail.
Crews will be working on the center lane, necessitating closing two lanes, DOT said.
The predicted traffic impact was "high," the state said.

reasons not to do center lane paving at night: 1) safety. drunk drivers are dangerous. even more so when you shut off 2 of their 3 lanes to swerve in. 2) temperature. the temperature is a factor in when you can pave. if it's too hot or too cold you can't do it. 3) money. if they have to pay them overtime pay for working at night, i'd rather they do it during the day. money is tight right now for the DOT.
