Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives arrested a Fayetteville man over the weekend and charged him with taking indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl late last year.

Brandon Cady, 36, of 1925 Lass St., faces statutory rape charges, authorities said.

Investigators say Cady and the girl engaged in inappropriate behavior on Dec. 13 at the home of a female friend of the girl. The girl was spending the night with her friend when the encounter occurred, authorities said.

Detectives released Cady from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.

He was scheduled to make a first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the detention center courtroom.

Hello, WRAL! Yes, you published the name and picture of the accused.... Wouldn't it be more of a public service to say "illegal behavior" instead of "inappropriate behavior"? And, also, to define what is meant by "indecent liberties"?
