Clayton, N.C. — A brush fire charred a couple of acres Sunday in Johnston County.
The fire broke out at about 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Amelia Church and Barber Mill roads in Clayton. It burned about two acres of grass and trees and threatened some nearby structures, firefighters said.
The fire was under control Sunday evening, and the cause remained under investigation.
