Some Kenly residents urged to boil water

e-mail print friendly

Town officials advised residents in one part of the town to boil their water Friday as a precaution during repairs to a 6-inch water line.

The boil-water advisory covers customers who live east of Exit 107 on Interstate 95, according to Town Manager Scott Shelton. During repairs, water pressure will go down in pipes, creating the possibility of contamination.

Customers should boil water before using it for drinking, cooking or any other human consumption.

Shelton emphasized that the measure is a precaution and said that the town will test the water for any contamination. Negative results will let officials lift the advisory.

Shelton said he expected the advisory would be lifted by Saturday afternoon at the earliest and apologized for the inconvenience.
