Special Ops soldier to face court-martial on child sex charges

A noncommissioned officer assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg will face court-martial April 27 on child sex charges.

The court-martial, which is similar to a trial in civilian court, is scheduled for three days.

Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Aguirre, an information systems operator assigned to the command, was arraigned earlier this week on one count of attempted sodomy with a child under the age of 12, three counts of indecent acts with a child under age 16, one count of rape of a child and one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

Walter Sokalski Jr., deputy public affairs officer with the ASOC, said the alleged actions occurred between 2004 and 2007.
