e-mail print friendly

Onslow County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the drowning death of a 7-month-old boy Sunday at a home on Ben Williams Road.

The infant’s father told investigators that he had put the boy and another child in the tub. When he went to check on them, the infant was under water. The father estimated that the child had been under water for eight minutes.

The infant was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

why leave them alone in a bathtub, how careless

Please NC, don't let this case just slip through your fingers.. People need to start taking responsiblity as parents. My prayers are with the child that was in the bath tub with him and my prayers go to our justice system. I worry that there will not be charges- that our justice system will say it was an accident. Okay, so it might have been an accident, the father didn't hold the baby's head under.. but the second you walk away from leaving a child/children in an unsafe environment, you are guilty of neglect, abuse, voluntary manslaughter. As a parent: your friends, the TV, whatever- they all come after your kids. This man's friends and TV will always be there, his child, he's gone forever.

Wow! This is sad! Lack of responsibility on his part...His life will be forever changed because he'd rather have fun drinking with his buddies than care for his children. As other posters have said, you should NEVER leave a 2 year old unattended in a bath tub much less a 7 month old!!! Very sad :(

A seven month old is barely able to sit-up by itself. A two year old can't handle a slippery baby in the bath tub. He will have to carry the burden of his actions forever! All to hang out with friends, watch a movie, and consume alcohol. What a shame!

you wouldn't leave a 2 year old unattended in a bath tub much leass a 7 month old. left them BOTH alone in the tub???
