The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert on Monday for Miles Grady Brooks, 84, of Jonesville in Yadkin County man.

Brooks is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Brooks is described as being white, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has short gray hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing beige pants and a gray coat, Jonesville police said.

Brooks was last seen at Little Creek Apartments in Jonesville. Though police are not sure, they said they believe he could be headed to Union Grove Lumber in Union Grove..

He is believed to be driving a white 1993 Cadillac with a black top and North Carolina license plate number WNX-2420.

Anyone with information about Brooks should call the Jonesville Police Department at 336-835-5020.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing, endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
