Garner, N.C. — A broken heating system has given North Garner Middle School students a reprieve from school on Saturday, but they'll still have to make it up, school officials said.
Students were scheduled to go to class Saturday to make up for a day of classes missed due to this week's snowfall. But with a broken heating system and a forecast high in the low 50s, it was necessary to postpone the make-up day, said Bill Poston, a spokesman for the school system.
Instead, North Garner middle-schoolers will spend Saturday, April 18, in the classroom.
Repairs to the heating system were completed late Saturday morning, and classes will resume as usual on Monday, Chip Sudderth, a communications specialist for the school system, said.
