Police: Homeowner justified in shooting intruder

e-mail print friendly
Break-in; Home Invasion

Police said Thursday that a homeowner who shot and killed an intruder last weekend wouldn't face criminal charges.

Jerry Riley, 54, of 593 Tokay Drive, said a stranger confronted him as he entered his home Saturday night. Riley said he pulled a handgun on the intruder, and the two men then struggled over the gun.

The gun went off, and the intruder took the pistol and ran out of the house, police said.

Officers investigating the burglary found Joshua Caleb Pratt, 27, of 662 Glenola Drive, in the street with a gunshot would to the abdomen. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Pro-Gun-Control folks:

It is trite to say, but there is a great amount of truth to it: When guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will use guns. I think these gun control laws are contrived at best.

Case In Point: Home Invader attacks, violates, tortures and shoots a woman to death. Do you honestly think - for even a split second - that the bandit would have thought twice about using a gun in the incident? What, was his thought process: "Well, I was going to do all these things to her, but alas guns are illegal, so I won't use a firearm. I don't know why I went to the trouble of finding one on the black market in the first place."

Puhleese.

emtpt2k...............yes right on........

The funny thing is, if gun control really prevented crime, then prison would be the safest place on earth. Criminals prey on the weak, they tend to avoid people who appear as though they will put up a fight. The best thing we can do to reduce crime is to reduce the frivolous gun laws. Criminals don't care about laws only law abiding citizens do. The best gun control is being able to hit your target.

Too bad for the burglar. It was his decision to break in.

was there any doubt it was justified...a no brainer......only those without guns need fear......dummies......
