Father, stepson die in Clayton wreck

Clayton, N.C. — Nathan Jerome Hudson, 43, of Clayton, and his stepson, Jared Austin Johnson, 19, also of Clayton, died Sunday evening in a wreck on Winston Road, the state Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened about 6 p.m. along the 800 block of Winston Road between Guy and Cornwallis roads.

Hudson was driving east on Winston when he lost control of his car and it crossed the center line and struck a westbound pickup truck, troopers said.

The driver of the pickup, Cirilo Dela Luz-Medina, 23, of Clayton, was transported by ambulance to WakeMed with minor injuries. Troopers said they charged him with driving without a license.
