Jennifer Pruitt, charged with embezzling from school

A former Moore County school bookkeeper has been charged with stealing more than $15,000 from the New Century Middle School in Cameron.

Jennifer Pruitt, 29, is charged with 18 counts of obtaining property by false pretense and 12 counts of embezzlement.

Pruitt resigned her position at New Century after a December audit revealed discrepancies in the school's finances. The audit found more than two dozen instances in which money was missing or was used to make purchases.

maybe she was trying to help with the bailout you know so the school could get more money

Stealing from a school? Pathetic! She is a sorry excuse for a human and needs to be locked away for a very long time.

Hard time is what she will be doing. Stealing never solves anything and only takes away from those who need it most. Shame on her and hopefully she will be made to pay it all back. Everyone is cutting back, doing without and trying to make ends meet. But stealing isn't the answer.

Times is hard!

stealing from a school? Shame, shame, shame.
