Durham police seek Choral Society thief

Police on Wednesday asked for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a theft during a Jan. 12 fundraiser by the Choral Society of Durham.

The organization was hosting a fundraiser in its offices on the lower floor of 120 Morris St. when someone entered an unlocked office at about 8 p.m. and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The thief was described as a black man with a dark complexion who is 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He had short, black hair and was missing his two front teeth. He was wearing a brown jacket with a diamond pattern woven in it and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Durham police investigator A.C. Rogers at 919-560-4406, ext. 270.
