Durham, N.C. — A Durham firefighter suffered an eye injury when he was hit by a water stream from a fire hose while battling a fire Monday evening, fire officials said.
The fire department said that Capt. Sean Boone was taken to Duke University Hospital, treated and released pending an examination at the Duke Eye Center on Tuesday.
The fire was reported started shortly before 10 p.m. at what officials said appeared to be an empty house at 210 W. Piedmont Ave., at the corner of Fargo Street.
The fire first was listed as being at 1145 Fargo St.
