Two men shot, man's finger cut off at nightclub

A confrontation at a nightclub early Saturday ended with two men shot in the chest and a third man's finger severed, Durham police said.

Police said that the shooter got into a confrontation with another man and then started shooting inside Ray's Lounge, 3205 University Drive. Bullets struck two men in the chest.

Police found the victims at 2930 Chapel Hill Road after a call around 2:10 a.m. Officers took the men to Duke University Hospital, where they underwent surgery. Police said the wounds were life-threatening, but the men's prognosis was good.

Later Saturday morning, a man with a finger cut off showed up at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Police said the man's injury was related to the incident at Ray's Lounge.

Police had not filed any charges.
