Police are trying to locate the suspect in a New Year’s Day robbery on East Main Street.

Tremain Antoine Jones, 31, of no known address, is charged with common-law robbery.

A 30-year-old man told officers he was walking on East Main Street near Commerce Street around 10:45 a.m. when two men yelled at him and punched him in the head. One man kicked him in the head.

The two men took the victim’s wallet and fled.

Authorities have not released information about the second suspect.

The victim was treated at the Duke University Hospital, authorities said.

Jones was arrested last year in the March 28 robbery and beating of two men in Durham. He was placed on probation in September after being convicted of common-law robbery.

Anyone with information on Jones’ whereabouts is asked to call Investigator C.C. Green at 919-560-4406, ext. 271, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
