Fayetteville shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

A 23-year-old Fayetteville man was fatally shot in his car early Tuesday, police said.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of a shopping center at Ramsey Street and Meadowcroft Drive at about 2 a.m. Tuesday found the body of DeJuan Pierre McLean, of Fiske Drive, in the driver's seat of a silver Hyundai Elantra, police said. McLean had been shot several times, police said.

The car was blocking northbound lanes of Ramsey Street, forcing police to closure the road and reroute  early morning traffic, police said.

A passenger in the car, whose name has been withheld, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds. He remained in the hospital Wednesday, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-438-8477. A Crime Stoppers reward of up to $1,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest.
