Wake health director heads to Asheville

Raleigh, N.C. — Wake County Health Director Gibbie Harris has been named director of the Buncombe County Health Center in Asheville.

Harris has headed Wake County's public health programs for nine years. She also is a member of the state Child Fatality Task Force and the Accreditation Commission for Health Care and is incoming vice president of the state Association of Local Health Directors.

“Gibbie Harris is the complete package – a recognized leader in public health, highly respected among her colleagues and a team player who understands the benefits of community collaboration," State Health Director Dr. Leah Devlin said in a statement. "Buncombe County is fortunate to have her.”
