Greensboro police accused a teen driver of being impaired when she allegedly drove through a wreck scene, injuring two firefighters Sunday.

WFMY-TV reported that Kristin Spires, 16, faces charges of driving while impaired, along with other traffic violations.

Investigators say that Spires ignored emergency lights and road flares and drove through the scene of an earlier wreck at Creekridge and Randleman roads around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Her car struck and injured firefighters J.N. Harvey and L.D. Boone and hit another vehicle before heading away.

Greensboro police officers stopped Spires a few blocks away and tested her for drugs and alcohol.

Harvey and Boone were treated at Moses Cone Hospital. Harvey returned to duty the same day.

This 16 year old girl did no different than thousands of adults do all of the time. Pushing the driving age to 21 inconveniences everyone. Responsible teen drivers should not be punished because of her actions. I say we have a much stricter punishment for the ones who break this law and maybe this will eliminate it. However, what was a 16 year old doing driving around drunk at 3:30am anyways? Where were her parents? Did they know where she was? Hmmm....makes you wonder!

I say they need to take this girls's licenses until she's 25 and sober.

I say we add a few more penalties for DWI/DUI. There should be enough flexibility in the system to allow an inexperienced driver who injures people to get a harsher sentence, not just keep all kids from driving until they're 21.

There are plenty of responsible teen drivers and they shouldn't be punished for the actions of their peers.

How about losing your license for 3 (or 5) years if you hurt someone else if you are under 21?

Teen drivers should be able to drive. Just not this one. Pushing up the driving age to 21 is ignorant.

She should have not be allowed to have a license...Ever.
