Katherine Stroud, charged in Harnett home invasion

Harnett County authorities on Wednesday arrested a woman in connection with a recent home invasion in Lillington.

Katherine Danielle Stroud, 16, of Sanford, was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. She was being held in the Harnett County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

Maurice Devonte Purcell, 18, of Sanford, was arrested last week on the same charges.

Investigators said Purcell and Stroud were among four people who entered a home at 232 Tacia Drive on Dec. 17 while Derrick Womack and his family were home.

Womack said he saw two people on his porch and another two in his yard. He was shot in the hand, and he said he shot two of the robbers before all four fled.

More arrests are pending in the case, authorities said.

what happened to innocent until proven guilty? charges being filed does not mean the child is guilty of said charges. also, why was this home targeted for invasion? it's just a little double wide trailer on a dirt road in harnett county just like all the rest of them in that area... one might wonder what was going on inside it to make it so interesting...

Criminals are becoming bolder and bolder. I agree, we need more guns and people willing to use them. Our courts will not punish the criminals and when they are caught they get off with a fine or parole. Teens are exposed to too much violence and sex on TV, and to many welfare mothers. Seems our government should take responsibility for most, the sex, violence, and welfare.

2009 the year to buy a gun!

Better do so before your new president takes office... he & the Lib Dems will change your way of life very soon - Change is coming & you won't like your restricted 'freedoms'...

They were talking about arresting more suspects, not the homeowner. He has a right to use lethal force in a home invasion! Glad he shot them - shame they left on their own accord and not in a coroner's van. Good work sir! The four culprits need to spend a few years in prison to understand what they did. Where are this young girl's parents? Glad two are in custody - now get the others!

Sounds like the owner of the home will be charged. I mean, were not allowed to protect our homes these days, is that correct?

Good for the home owner. 2009 the year to buy a gun!
