Raleigh, N.C. — Gov. Mike Easley on Wednesday named Tracy Little acting secretary of the state Department of Correction and Joanne McDaniel acting secretary of the state Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
Little, who was deputy secretary in the Correction Department, replaces Theodis Beck, whose retirement takes effect Thursday.
McDaniel, who was chief of staff in the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, replaces George Sweat, who also retired.
Little and McDaniel will serve until successors take office under the incoming administration of Governor-elect Beverly Perdue.
