Raleigh, N.C. — Time Warner Cable plans to raise its rates next month, but a spokeswoman said most cable television customers won't see any increase on their bills.
Notices recently mailed to customers show most cable services will go up in price about $3 to $4. Standard cable, for example, will increase from $40.50 to $43.71 a month.
Time Warner usually increases rates at the beginning of the year, spokeswoman Melissa Buscher said. About 60 percent of customers won't see an increase, though, because their services are bundled with digital phone service, high-speed Internet service or both, she said.

When cable was initially brought into the area I can remember it was $6.00 a month.
They go up every year. I watch less than 15% of all the channels. They should pay me for all the shopping channels.

This used to be true but no longer -- Retention doesn't hand out deals like they used to. The fact that we were 12 year customers who paid on time meant nothing to "Jimmy" in Retetion who told me we'd had all the specials we were entitled to for a lifetime (that's pretty much a verbatim quote). Less than 30 days later we were all hooked up with DirectTV and TW will never see another dollar of our money. Hope they thought not allowing a measly $15 discount on my bundled service for a year was worth the loss of our service entirely.
