Two women, two dogs hit by car

Two women and their two dogs were injured around 7 p.m. Sunday as they walked along Colony Road.

Emergency crews took Mona Rolen, 73, and Barbara Busse, 63, to Duke Hospital. Busse was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon. Rolen had non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

One of the dogs had to be euthanized, police said.

The women were walking westbound when the car, traveling the same direction, struck them. Police did not charge the driver.
