Chapel Hill, N.C. — Chapel Hill police arrested a woman Wednesday for allegedly stealing money from a 89-year-old woman under her care.
Cassandra Ray, 29, faces charges of exploiting a disabled or elderly person. She was being held in the Orange County Jail under a $2,500 bond Thursday.
Police said that Ray worked for Visiting Angels, a company that provides day nurses and companions for elderly adults.
Investigators said that Ray used the victim's debit card to steal approximately $1,000 from October through the latest incident on Wednesday.
The victim's family complained to the company, which contacted police.
