Two firefighters, two others charged with arson

Daniel Wayne Kennedy

Moore County deputies have arrested four men, including two firefighters, in an ongoing investigation into suspicious fires in the High Falls area.

Fire investigators determined that a Nov. 19 house fire on River Road was similar to other suspicious fires in the area.

Four men have been accused of setting that fire: Fabian James Perez, 22, of 2828 N.C. Highway 705 North in Robbins; Tyreece Chisholm, 21, of 2215 River Road in Robbins; Jonathan Barritos Sanchez, 22, of Pondview Drive in Robbins; and Daniel Wayne Kennedy, 23, of 907 N.C. Highway 22 in High Falls.

Kennedy and Chisholm were members of the High Falls Volunteer Fire Department, authorities said. Kennedy also was a Moore County 911 dispatcher, they said.

Each faces charges of burning an unoccupied building and felony conspiracy. Their first court appearance was set for Dec. 8.

Sanchez was given a $20,000 bond, and Perez and Kennedy each received separate $7,500 bonds. Chisholm was released under a written promise to appear in court.

Deputies said the investigation into the High Falls suspicious fires continues.

Anyone with information about the fires was asked to call the Moore County Sheriff's Office at 910-947-2931.
