Lillington woman charged with stealing from church

Lillington, N.C. — Harnett County sheriff's deputies charged a Lillington woman with stealing more than $30,000 while employed at Mt. Ariel United Methodist Church.

Mary O'Quinn Roberson, 72, of Heritage Valley Apartments, allegedly embezzled $33,249.04 from the church while she served as the treasurer there, Sheriff Larry Rollins said.

When a new treasurer took over, members of the church confronted Roberson about the missing money and she confessed, the sheriff said.

Roberson faces an embezzlement charge from the sheriff's office and charges of uttering a forged instrument and forgery of endorsement from the Lillington police.

I always thought the best place to meet the hottest chicks was in church. Later, when I wanted to buy pot in my younger day, I'd go to the best source in town - the preachers kids. I'd score a couple of joints after service, behind the church of course, and take my new found girlfriend (the preachers daughter) down to the lake to watch the submarine races....bunch of religious hipocrites.

The people that don't go to church because they feel like Christians are a bunch of hypocrites are only using that as an excuse...justifying their actions. The world will beat us down for our mistakes but our Father in heaven forgives if we repent and he does not hold it against us.

You will not be judged for other peoples actions, you will only be judged for your own. Be ready!! Other people won't get you into heaven........only you can do that!

Fritobandito is that really the reason you don't go to church or is that your excuse..you should go to church to nurture your relationship with God. Not worry about what others are doing. A lot of people say they don't go to church because of what others are doing there..If we all learn to deal with ourselves, the world would be a better place.

I think one of the big ten is "Thoult shalt not steal." I bet she preached intolerance, kindness and gentlness while "stealing" One reason I cant sit in church on Sunday's. Too many hipocrites!!!!
