There will be a student-led vigil this afternoon at 3 PM at the corner of Oakwood Avenue and Tarboro Road, the site of Friday's shooting death of this boy. The vigil is calling for an end to the violence. Community leaders and neighbors are invited to attend.

trb2871,

How do you know this young man was not a straight A student? How do you know he was not walking home from work (Bojangles and Cookout are both right down the street)? How do you know he was not walking home from studying with a friend? How come people always have to think the negative stuff when it comes to a killing near St. Aug?

trb2871-Actually he was killed somewhere between 8:45-9:00. And since when is 9:00 is too late for a 16 year old to be outside? No matter what the circumstances were behind his killing, he was still someone's son, brother, maybe even father.

trb2871, the answer to all of your questions is still "poor boy"!

Why we don't clean up that area of crime is beyond my understanding. If it were around NC State we would increase police presence. I guess we will wait until an innocent college kid gets killed before we do anything!! It is well-known that this is a high-crime, high-poverty area. But there are people who live there that don't want the crime there. The rest need to be made unwelcome!!!

Ok,what wrong with being 16 and out at 9:00?? Children cant help where they happen to live.

Prayers are with this childs family.
