print friendly

A Benson teenager is accused of swindling her teachers.

Ashley Messer, 17, faces 13 counts of obtaining property under false pretenses.

Police say the former South Johnston High School student sold 16 tickets for chicken dinners to teachers as part of a fake fund-raising scheme.

Messer was being held in the Johnston County jail Wednesday evening on $250,000 bond.

Okay, read the article with more information at http://www.1270wmpm.com/. The bond still seems way excessive. $250K and 13 felony counts for failing to produce chicken dinners. She made $96.00. Someone drug test the magistrate that set the bond.

There are nice, small apartments in China for all those who feel the bond set for this offense is appropriate. Be sure to look in the mirror daily to make sure your perfection is still radiating.

She deserves to spend some time in jail!

Just doesn't make sense; see below from the websight above $250,000 to $5000 Woman Caught Passing Counterfiet $4,550 Check Clayton Police arrested a woman Tuesday after she attempted to pass a counterfeit check at Wood Forest Bank. Police said the suspect, 25 year-old Betty Lee Perez of Garner, has counterfeited a check against Rent America of Garner in the amount of $4,550. Police detectives charged Perez with attempting to obtaining property by false pretenses and uttering a forged check. Bail was set at $5,000. Perez is also under investigation for other possible similar cases in the Garner area

Seems like a pretty excessive bond but maybe there's more to the story that justifies it. Oh what a tangled web we weave.....
