Michelle Young's mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her son-in-law late last month, claiming he is responsible for her daughter's beating death more than two years ago.

Linda Fisher also wants Jason Young to lose property rights to a townhouse the couple once shared, according to a civil summons filed in Wake County District Court.

Michelle and Jason Young lived in the residence at Trinity Square Townhomes in Raleigh prior to moving to 5108 Birchleaf Drive.

Pregnant at the time of her death, Michelle Young, 29, was found lying face down in the bedroom of that house on Nov. 3, 2006. Her 2-year-old daughter, Cassidy, was found unharmed at her side.

Investigators have not made an arrest in the case and have not named any suspects.

Fisher, however, claims Jason Young is liable for his wife's death and wants him to pay compensation to Cassidy and be barred from collecting any life insurance benefits.

Jason Young told investigators he was out of town on business when his wife was killed, but according to search warrants, has generally been uncooperative with investigators.

He talked with authorities the day Michelle Young was killed and later gave fingerprints and DNA samples under a court order.

Jason Young and Cassidy have moved to western North Carolina, where members of his family live. The Birchleaf Drive house was sold earlier this year.

"Did the mom kill the daughter? She sure is acting like she is the one that knows something."

THANK YOU!! Here I am, sitting at home on rainy Friday night and I needed something to cheer me up. Thanks for the laugh!

"She has already tried and convicted him. She just wants her daughter back and it is not going to happen; so, she has decided that he is guilty...and wants him to suffer because she is suffering...ultimately she might be justified, but he has not been tried yet...what ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty?""

I guess you'd just sit on your hands if your daughter was murdered? Probably not.

TarheelsDontLikeEdwards, What amazes me is that you can file a civil wrongful death suit against someone when there hasn't been a criminal trial and criminal conviction of murder. ----------------

You have heard of the OJ Simpson civil suit, haven't you? A criminal prosecution requires proof 'beyond reasonable doubt'. In a civil lawsuit, the case must be proved by a “preponderance of the evidence,” that is, by enough evidence to conclude that it is more likely than not that the victim’s claims are true.

As for those who say 'Jason needs a place to live', he isn't living in the townhome, he is living in the mountains near or with his family. Sounds like this townhome is an income property.

If there isn't enough evidence to charge him with a criminal charge or murder then their shouldn't be enough evidence for a civil wrongful death trial.

Right on Anastasia. I have no desire to hear about "his rights"

You people who are tooting your horn about him and his "rights" seem to forget that she was beaten so severely that dental records were needed. She was beaten so severely that many of her teeth were knocked out and her skull was fractured in several spots. Her baby likely would have survived. Her poor child was left alone to witness her dead mother lying in her own blood..for hours.

This "husband and father" was carrying on with another woman while his pregnant wife worked, talking trashy with other women, hung up on police who were calling him the morning his wife's body was found, refused to call his mother in law back the same morning, was caught on videotape blocking a side entrance to the hotel open so that he could come and go freely the night of his wife's murder, sent the sister in law over to see ebay postings that were long over........

Shame on his family for protecting him!
