Raleigh leaf collection starts Wednesday

City crews will begin curbside collection of fallen leaves on Wednesday.

The service will begin in west Raleigh and will cover neighborhoods between Wade Avenue and Glenwood Avenue by Friday, city officials said. They will then move east to an area bounded by Glenwood, Six Forks Road and Lassiter Mill Road.

Residents are asked to rake their leaves to the curb – not into the street or on sidewalks or meter boxes. Other yard waste, such as sticks, should not be mixed in with the leaves.

Officials plan for crews to make two complete passes through the city. The first will finish before Christmas, and the second will begin in early January.
