Dogs seek new homes after removal from veteran's care

About 50 dogs are looking for new homes after being removed from a military veteran who was unable to care for them.

The animals have not been abused or neglected, but the owner, whose name has not been released, could not care for the animals.

The owner served in the Army and Navy and suffered several war injuries, authorities said. He now walks with a cane. His wife has also suffered health problems.

The couple most recently has encountered financial problems, authorities said.

The man had taken in the abandoned animals over time.

Moore County Animal Control Officers said the dogs were in good physical condition and appeared to have been cared for. They removed the dogs from the property in a rescue effort with Animal Advocates and the Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Clinic.

The dogs are being cared for by Animal Advocates of Moore County. People wishing to make donations to help the animals are asked to send those donations to:

He was trying to help victims that other callous people created, it's a shame that a lot of folks have bigger hearts than wallets, he tried his best. Good luck to him and the dogs

It's discouraging to see false voting. Why bother voting? christinebbd

A person cannot vote but one time on each subject. Can a person vote more than once WRAL?

There is no mention of the availabilty of adoption of these animals. Is there an low cost outlet for these dogs to be re-homed?I am looking for a small bred puppy to grace our home. My prayers and graditude go out to this vet, who has given all he has for others, first the american people and now the homeless dogs that he has cared for. It is never easy to say good bye to you "best Friends" but I hope that knowing they would be in a good loving home would make things easier for him. Thank you for all that you have done past and present.
