Computer problem extends wait at DMV

e-mail print friendly

A computer problem slowed the driver's license process across the state Monday.

The national database used by the Division of Motor Vehicles to check commercial licenses was down Monday morning, forcing staff to make checks manually.

A spokesman said some drivers had a longer wait, but still got their licenses.

This is actually incorrect, based on my experience today. I went to renew a regular driver's license, and was told the "state computers" were down and that they could not issue any drivers' licenses until they came back up. They did my eye test, and told me to come back to get my picture taken and my license!

You think that's slow, just wait until they try to tie registration to inspection. That will be a real disaster.

Can DMV get any SLOWER?
