Infant found in garbage truck appeared to be full-term

HUBERT, N.C. — Investigators in eastern North Carolina say they have a person of interest in the death of a newborn girl whose decomposed body was found in a garbage truck.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported Tuesday that the baby's body was found Monday by an employee of the garbage service who was about to dump a trash can.

Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said the investigation is continuing.

County medical examiner Dr. Anuradha Arcot said the baby appeared to be full-term and there were no signs of abnormalities.

Under North Carolina's Safe Surrender Law, parents can legally and anonymously surrender their newborn to any responsible adult within seven days of the child's birth as long as it is unharmed.

People can just keep thinking that abortion is not as bad as throwing their baby out. It might sound better but it's still just as bad. I don't think the baby should be punished because of the mother's mistake.

Yesterday someone said that this is just as bad as abortion. No. This is a million times worse than an abortion. With an abortion in the first trimester you kill an unwanted fetus that has no fully developed nervous system so it can't feel pain or can be conscience of pain.

This full term born baby was capable of that. That is cruel.

Someone probably told the mother that “Abortion is wrong”. No, throwing a baby in the trash is wrong.

Not all women have choose abortion have regrets. Many are quite relieved, and go on to better themselves so that they can have children when the time is right.

I mean really, no one intentionally gets pregnant expressly to have an abortion.

These situations are so sad. And to think she could have just walked up to a stranger and gave them the baby and they would have been more than happy to take care of it. There are a lot of people who would be glad to take any baby and raise it as their own. Our babies have our DNA. Hopefully they will track this person down and punish her for what she did.
