Tires slashed near Obama rally
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Dunn man has been charged with slashing the tires of several vehicles outside Crown Coliseum last week during a rally featuring Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Timothy Michael Strickland, 18, of the 8300 block of Norris Road, was cited with 11 counts of willful injury to personal property. Juvenile detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office also are questioning a 15-year-old in the case, but no charges have been filed yet.

Investigators said Strickland and the 15-year old randomly targeted vehicles for vandalism as a prank. The tire-slashings were not politically motivated, authorities said.
